LAN- A local area network is a short-distance network used to link a group of computers together within a building. 10BaseT Ethernet is the most commonly used form of LAN. A piece of hardware called a hub serves as the common wiring point, enabling data to be sent from one machine to another over the network. LANs are typically limited to distances of less than 500 meters and provide low-cost, high-bandwidth networking capabilities within a small geographical area. For more information go to our home page. For additional LAN support please go to our online FAQ Manual.

LAN to LAN Connector- A local area network cable that connects local computer to a network. For more information go to our home page. For additional LAN support please go to our online FAQ Manual.

Level Sensor- Sensor that detects the levels of particular devices and their environments. Uptime Devices provides a variety of environmental sensors for your local network server room. For more information go to our sensors page.

Line Up- LineUp moves selected symbols on the HP OpenView submap and evenly spreads them either on an axis or a vector joining the extreme symbols. The resulting maps are pleasing to the eye and make laying out maps more attractive and easier to use. Uptime Devices supports Line Up software. For more information go to our Adminstrative Tools page.

Liquid Level- Liquid Level Control Modules for monitoring and controlling conductive liquids which include city water, well water, sea water, glycol and water, beverages such as soda, coffee and tea, and many other polar fluids. Most of these liquid level detection systems are microprocessor controlled, and are available as single or multiple probe units with single or multiple outputs that can be utilized to perform independent functions. The microprocessor provides the ability to customize all functions including setting sensitivity and delay times to meet customer's requirements. Uptime Devices provides a variety of environmental sensors for your local network server room. For more information go to our sensors page.

Local Reseller- Uptime Devices provides a list of their local and international resellers on our Where to Buy page.

LPD- A local network printer program that controls a printer. Whenever you print a document, the printer driver takes over, feeding data to the printer with the correct control commands. Most modern operating systems come with printer drivers for the most common types of printers, but you must install them before you can use the printer. You can also download updated drivers from the printer manufacturer's Web site. For more information go our home page.
