Important! If you purchased your product before February 1, 2003, these firmware updates will not apply to your device and you will need to contact our support specialists.
Uptime Devices, Inc. is committed to customer satisfaction so we will periodically release new firmware to add new features to our products. This does not include older versions of our products purchased before 02/01/03. If your firmware version pre-dates v2.0 please contact our support specialists for an update.
You must have Hyper Terminal available to you to upgrade your firmware.
Instructions for updating your firmware:
- Connect your device to your network using an ethernet cable or cross over cable.
- Create a new file in Hyper Terminal. Hyper Terminal will first prompt you to name the new file. The connection will be set to TCP/IP.
- Enter the device's IP address in the Host Address field and port should be set to 3001. This should allow you to connect to the device. If connected, in the bottom left corner it will say "connected" and show the amount of time you have been connected. There will also be a blinking cursor in the command prompt field.
- Look at the top of the file's screen, click on "Transfer" and "send text file". Select the text file from the location on your computer where you have saved it. It should tell you that it is down-loading. It will go through several blocks of memory.
- At the end it will tell you that it is going to reboot or that it is writing EPROM. Hyper Terminal will disconnect when the process is done.
- Check the device's firmware version on the device's interface to ensure downloading succeeded. It may take a couple of tries to get this working.
Notes: You cannot upgrade a 2.x or 3.x version SH-2(+) to a 4.x version SH-2(+). The number (2, 3, or 4) refers to a hardware upgrade to the SH-2(+).
Please upgrade your firmware in sequential order. For instance if you have a 4.0 SH-2(+), upgrade the unit to 4.2, before upgrading the unit to 4.3.
